Hello! Elena here from bulgarian travel agency, helping travelers find that dream destination for 12 years. Bodrum has been my fail-proof destination for the client with dreams of literally too-close-a-Mediterranean getaway - https://blog-petar-gid-v-turciya.webflow.io.
Bodrum is far more than a pretty face along the coastline of Turkey; it is really one of the more genuinely beautiful resorts of Turkey, and on the part of the Aegean coast, the brightness of the peninsula has that magical quality where brilliant white buildings pop against the deep blue sea and sky. I vividly remember going around that coastal road on my first visit and actually gasping out loud!
The weather here never fails throughout the year. Even in mid-January you might find the lunch served outside under the sun. Quite clearly summer is the season of busy beach crowds, yet wild flowers fill the hills during springtime.
Bodrum is very unique because of its typical diversity of beaches with coves. One morning, you can be in a buzzing beach club in Gümbet and, by the afternoon, find yourself in a hidden little cove where there are footprints on the sand. I counted as many as 8 completely different beaches during one week of my last vacation.
Because, Bodrum is a great holiday destination for kids. Shallow, crystal clear waters are best for little swimmers and most resorts understand what a family actually needs - good entertainment and safe places, not just sad-of-hearts swings. My sister's fussy 7-year-old said, "Better than Disney," over it last summer!
History buffs, rejoice! Stroll where ancient Greeks and Romans once roamed. The ruins of Mausoleum at Halicarnassus once held a place among the Seven Wonders! The medieval castle looms above the harbor, and there are times when I like to sit there wondering what stories these stones would tell.
Water activity aficionados have the wonderful experience of diving and surfing. The underwater visibility, too, is amazing-I saw an octopus hiding in an ancient amphora during my spring dive last year!
Tight on budget? In terms of a European counterpart, Bodrum is terribly cheap. Sample street food that is as cheap as it is scrumptious, while the finer dining restaurants also don't burn a hole in your pocket.
When should you visit? Personally, I very much love late May or early October; warm enough for swimming but not crowded by summer vacationers.
Quick tip: Learning the Turkish tea ritual-it is how locals take breaks and from time to say "çay" (chai) you'll never be lonely.
Are you ready to experience the magic of Bodrum? Come on, let's do it!
